Both Madera Minor League baseball players Gary Moran and Alec Mehrten had to wait a while to get their seasons started, albeit for different reasons.

After starting the season with nine innings in his first two outings in April for the Mississippi Braves (Atlanta’s double-A affiliate), Moran fell on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

It took almost three months for Moran to finally get healthy. He returned to the Braves on July 3 where he pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing a run and striking out one.

He returned to action and got the start on July 7. He didn’t get a decision in a four-inning outing where he allowed one run on two hits with another strikeout...
