When Donovan Miller went to the AAU (Amateur Athletes Union) National Qualifier in Tulare, he was a little awestruck watching teams warm up before racing.
All Miller did was go out and win four events and earn a ticket to the Junior Olympics on July 30-August 4 in Houston.
“We were just stunned overall,” mother Crystal Miller said. “There were teams of people and he was running alone. We were a bit intimidated. When he went out there and performed the way he did, we were shocked.”
In Tulare, Miller, an eighth grader at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in the fall, won the sub-youth 100-meter dash in a time of 12.66 seconds, .28 seconds ahead of the next runner...
