For the second year in a row, a pitcher for the Madera South baseball team tossed a no-hitter.
Just as Anthony Valle did last March in a 2-0 home win over Buhach Colony-Atwater, Stallion sophomore pitcher. Donovan Bertoncini didn’t allow a hit Friday in a 10-0 win over Roosevelt-Fresno at Madera South High.
Bertoncini became only the second pitcher to throw a no-hitter in the program’s six-year history as he allowed just two walks with 13 strikeouts in the complete-game shutout.
“It’s big for me to get that especially for it being my first (full) season on varsity,” Bertoncini said. “I just wanted to pitch the best I could but I didn’t think I would come up with the no-hitter.” ...
