Madera National 11’s open with win over Madera American LL

After a somewhat shaky start at the plate, the Madera National Little League 10-11-year-old All-Star team was a looking for a spark to ignite its hitting capabilities against a tough Madera American team in the District 10 double-elimination tournament.

Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning, Madera National third baseman Tanner Sagouspe stepped up to the plate and calmly waited for his pitch.

Once he saw it, one swing of the bat changed the momentum of the game as his three-run homer over the left field fence began a string of 13 unanswered runs Sunday night in Madera National’s 14-4 five-inning mercy-rule win over Madera American on Mike Howe Field at Lions Town and Country Park.

It was the first loss of the tournament for Madera American, which was coming off a 16-9 win over Riverpark National at Reedley on Saturday...
