Madera hosts National qualifier

Over the weekend, 35 teams from all over the state will converge to Madera’s Lions Town and Country Park to try to qualify for the Bobby Sox National Tournament.

All-Star teams in six age groups, ranging from 6-under to 18-under, will begin play in the Bobby Sox Regional All-Star Tournament Saturday morning and continue through Sunday evening.

“It’s been years since Madera has hosted a tournament of this size,” said Phil Magos, district 32 Bobby Sox director and Madera coach.

Included in the six age groups will be a Madera Bobby Sox All-Star team. Although five of the six teams have already qualified for the National Tournament Magos said that the teams wanted the opportunity to play at home...
