Last season, the Madera Coyotes used the Madera Classic as a stepping stone to a Division II Valley Championship run.
This year, the Coyotes hope to do the same even though they have been moved into Division I.
The Coyotes won six straight matches at last year’s Madera Classic to advance to the championship match, where they lost to Central-Fresno.
“It’s a really important tournament for us this year,” Madera head coach Robyn Keune said. “It is one of our last preseason competitions. It’s a chance for us to work out a lot of kinks. It’s going to be huge. We’re going to have people really emerge and we’re trying to grow up a little bit.” ...
