Memorial Stadium at Madera High School was packed Friday night for the fifth annual Stadium Road Showdown, a game showcasing the rivalry between the Madera Coyotes and Madera South Stallions with each team playing for their first conference win of the season.
The Coyotes (4-6, 1-4 CMAC) would prove too much for the Stallions (0-10, 0-5 CMAC) and earned their first County/Metro Athletic Conference victory in more than five years by a score of 48-30.
The win gave the Coyotes back the game’s trophy prize, a giant bandsaw ― a reference to Madera’s origins as a lumber town ― after Madera South’s 14 to 3 victory last year.
