In the Bobby Sox Softball 30th annual Regional All-Star Tournament 8-under championship game, Madera (9-1) was able to avenge its only loss Sunday with a 6-2 win over Salinas to capture the title.
After taking first in its previous district tournament in La Mirada and qualifying for Nationals, Madera returned home and finished 4-1 overall in the two-day tourney at Lions Town and Country Park.
“It means everything for these girls to win in Madera,” said head coach Francine Ricks. “These girls were very dedicated and put in a lot of hard work at practice. They just have a lot of heart and great attitudes.”
Behind the pitching of Kaylee Patlan and Miranda Moles, Madera opened the tournament by crushing NV Milpitas, 16-2, and followed with a 9-3 win over Fairfield-Suisun.
