After finishing off rivals Madera South on Friday, the Madera Coyote baseball team earned the No. 2 seed in the Div. II playoffs announced by the Central Section office on Saturday.

The Coyotes, who finished third in the County/Metro Athletic Conference, earned a first-round bye Wednesday and will host the winner of Hanford West and Reedley on Friday at Mel Parker Field. CMAC rival San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno earned the top seed and also earned a first round bye.

“Losing the game at (Madera) South and Bullard-Fresno are bad losses and I saw ourselves slipping,” head coach Andy Underwood said. “I actually thought we were going to get the No. 3 seed so the two seed is good for us.”

The Coyotes have an advantage with lefties Alec Gamboa and Scotty Roberts performing well at the end of the season...
