Local driver wins big at the Madera Speedway

It was a memorable night for Madera’s Del McIntosh as he posted his first career win in the LunkerDaddy Late Models division on $5 Ticket Night presented by Century 21 M&M Associates at the LoanMart Madera Speedway.

McIntosh was one of six division winners who competed in the Jeff Doran Grass Roots Racer Classic on Saturday night. The event honored the late Doran, a former local racer at the Madera Speedway.

“It’s really special to win on a night like this because he (Doran) was one of my best friends and this is the one race all year long that I really wanted to win. So I didn’t care how many cars were racing, I just wanted to win it,” McIntosh said.

A fast start helped McIntosh claim the 24-lap main while top contenders Tony Schmitz, and Emma Tucker finished second, and third, respectively...
