Four of the six Madera Little League all-star teams made their opening appearance over the weekend and made its presence felt with commanding victories Saturday and Sunday in Madera and Reedley.
The four teams combined to outscore its opponents 69-7 in its opening games led by the Madera American 9-10-year-old All-Stars. They picked up a 24-0 victory over Sierra Mountain. Madera American’s counterparts, the 11-12-year-old team also defeated Sierra Mountain 9-0 on Saturday at Madera.
The 9-10-year-old Madera National Little League All-Stars opened the tournament with a 16-6 victory over Sanger during the 108-degree day.
The Madera National Little League 11-12-year-old All-Stars received an extra day of rest, getting an off day on Saturday. However, they came out Sunday with a 21-1 four-inning mercy rule victory over Selma in Reedley.
