Liberty hoping for another Valley run

Last season, the Liberty Hawks football team upset the top ranked team in the Division V playoffs and advanced to its fourth Valley Championship game.

However, the Hawks lost, 21-17, to No. 2 seed Fowler in the title game.

With three of his top running backs coming back this season, head coach Mike Nolte doesn’t see any reason why this team shouldn’t make another run to the Valley Championship game.

“Our schedule is going to be tough, but it will prepare us for the playoffs,” Nolte said. “We’ve been close a lot of times. This is a team that can get us over the hump. It’s always been kind of a puzzle and putting it together right is the key. I’m confident we have the capability of getting to the final key. With the experience and the dedication of work the kids have put in to get back there, we should be able to make a playoff run.” ...
