Special special teams: Not only did Seth Wedemeyer make a school record four field goals in Friday’s win over Lindsay, he was also proficient on kickoffs. On five kickoff returns, Lindsay averaged just 12 yards per return and didn’t get past the 25-yard line. Punter Zach Richey had three punts for a 36-yard average, including pinning Lindsay at its own 2.

Sack attack: Trevor Stephens had two sacks to break the single-season school record set just last year by J.J. Santa Cruz. He had help pressuring the quarterback. C.J. Cambra recorded a sack and Peter Flores and Hunter O’Brion had a half-sack each.

Get back here: Against Lindsay, a team that averages more than 35 points per game, the Cardinals scored just 10 on the Hawks. After scoring a field goal and a touchdown within their first three drives, the Cardinals didn’t get a sniff of the end zone the rest of the game. The closest Lindsay got was to the Liberty 40-yard line.

Records watch: Zach Richey passed Chase Cullins for most passing yards in a season with 1,424 yards despite missing the first two games of the season … Both running backs Wade Wallace and Richie Brandt are, practically, in a dead heat after 12 games, but both reached the 1,000 yard mark. Wallace leads Brandt by three yards with 1,030 yards … With a touchdown Friday, Brandt has 13 rushing touchdowns and is fifth all-time...
