Liberty falls to Fowler in playoffs

Two quick goals started the Fowler Redcats towards victory against the Liberty Hawks boys soccer team during the first round of the Central Section Div. V playoffs this week, and though the Hawks surged in the second half, a late bouncing shot sealed the game and sent the Redcats on to the next round.

Fowler (9-14-3, 5-4-1 NSL) split with Liberty (10-16-2, 4-4-2 NSL) in tw matches this year. The Redcats won the first clash 1-0 and Liberty took the second, 4-1.

Fowler head coach Mark Feaver said he knew coming in to the game that the Hawks were a tough team to beat.

“We’re always well matched with Liberty and I knew it would be back-and-forth,” Feaver said. “They have a strong up-and-back game so we looked for any mismatches and do our best to get the ball through. They’re a great team, we split games with them every year so it’s great to get this playoff win.” ...
