The Madera Coyote girls soccer team had plenty of chances to score, but the Edison-Fresno Tigers got the game-winning goal for a 1-0 victory in Memorial Stadium.
The Wednesday loss leaves the Coyotes (11-11-1) with a 4-3 record and drops them into a third place tie with Edison in the County/Metro Athletic Conference with three matches to go. They face Sanger tonight, a team that beat the Coyotes 2-0 two weeks ago.
“We dominated the game,” head coach Eli Liuba said. “We had 90 percent possession on their side of the field. Nothing went right for us. I tried different combos, but nothing worked.”
What also hurt Liuba was the absence of two of his top defenders, including a cocaption. Freshman stopper Oksana Reynoso will miss the rest of the season due to disciplinary action.
