Late Model drivers ready for 100-lap main event

It will be race No. 5 of the Coors Light Open Late Model Series (Split 50s) Saturday featuring the 18 Second Bracket race, Hobby Stocks, MSTs, Toyota Sedans and 4- Bangers at the Madera Speedway.

There have been four different winners this season in the Open Late Model Series races at the Madera Speedway as Dallas Montes, Matt Erickson, Cole Custer and Andrew Murray each claimed 100-lap victories.

Madera’s Justin Westmoreland came in second to Murray in his last race and is hoping to land his first win there after leading with just 25 laps to go in the main on July 28.

It will also be the fourth 18 Second Bracket race of the season. Because of the 18- second ‘breakout’rule where a driver cannot go faster than 18 seconds, it has produced some close and exciting races with all types of different classes running on the track. After Toyota Sedans driver Kyle Fortney claimed the first two mains of the year, Kevin Thompson took a shot at it in his MST car and won last week’s race...
