It took a while to get warmed up, but when former Liberty softball player Devin Kochergen’s bat got hot, it propelled her to the Sunshine State conference’s softball Player of the Week, announced Monday.
Kochergen began the season 1-for-16 for Lynn University. However she has heated up since her first five games. Since then, she has had a hit in six of the next seven games and carries a .283 batting average. In leading Lynn to a 3-1 record last week, she had seven hits for a .533 batting average and drove in nine runs.
In a doubleheader sweep of Ave Marie College, Kochergen went a combined 5-for-8 with a three-run home run and a two-run home run. She drove in eight runs, scored five times and hit two doubles in the two games.
