For one quarter in Tuesday night’s game, the Madera Coyote girls basketball team kept pace with the ninth ranked Bullard-Fresno Knights.
However, poor shooting and turnovers spelled doom for Madera. The Knights outscored the Coyotes 42-26 the rest of the way for a 60-40 victory on Madera’s Senior Night.
“They’ve got a lot of really good athletes,” head coach Jason Smith said. “They’re a high-caliber Division I basketball team.”
The last time the two teams met, Bullard’s freshman sensation Aarion McDonald torched the Coyotes to the tune of 37 points in a 72-52 win. The Coyotes held McDonald to just 21 points and 10 of those were of the “driving the lane, twisting away from contact and throwing the ball to the hoop” variety.
