The Liberty Hawks just cut the Washington Union Panthers’ lead to 20-12 with a touchdown (see below). Washington took over on the Liberty 46 with five minutes left in the game.

DeMelvin Stell took the handoff on a fly sweep to the right side. He ran by the Liberty defense for a 46-yard touchdown run to give the Panthers a 26-12 lead they would hang onto.

Drive of the game

The Hawks have been struggling to keep drives going. After a Washington Union punt, Liberty took over at its own 37. Quarterback Zach Richey scrambled for three yards. Kendall Malone carried twice for 14 yards and a first down. An incomplete pass to Travis Jordan resulted in a defensive pass interference penalty. Richey faced a fourth-and-9 from the 30-yard line. He went back to pass and got some time.

After scrambling around for about eight seconds, Richey launched a pass to the left side of the end zone. The ball went over a defender’s arms and right into Jordan’s in the end zone for the touchdown and give the Hawks some momentum with 5:37 left in the game...
