With a running clock in the fourth quarter and the Stallions trailing 48-0, Madera South decided to go to its bag of tricks on a 3rd-and-5 play. It paid off as senior running back Fernando Alvarez received the reverse handoff — which completely fooled Sanger’s defense — on the way to a 54-yard touchdown run down the right sideline that put the Stallions on the scoreboard.

Drive of the game

With under two minutes or running clock remaining in the game, the Stallions received the ball on their own 9-yard line. Sophomore running back Angel Avila threw a 46-yard halfback pass to sophomore wide receiver Calvin Ruvalcaba. After a 15-yard personal foul by the Apaches, sophomore quarterback Aldo Serefin-Dominguez threw a 30-yard touchdown strike to senior tight end Fabian Contreras as time ran out in the game.
