In their first drive of the second half, the Coyotes faced a third-and-20 from their own 25 yard line down 13-6 after an Edison score. Nelson dropped back and looked to Kristopher Bueno — Madera's breakout sophomore receiver — deep down the right sideline for a long pass. Though Bueno made the grab, he was just out of bounds, forcing the punt.

Edison would score on their next drive with a 32-yard reception to Tyrone Smith and an 18-yard run by Blake Wright.

Ahead 21-6 with less than two minutes to go in the third quarter, the Tigers found rushing success with Williams taking carries.

On three straight handoffs beginning at the Tiger 27-yard line, Williams broke out huge gains and perhaps any chance Madera had to remain in the game, capping off the three-play drive with a 32-yard running score to put Edison up 28-6...
