Coming home for the holiday break is a much-anticipated time for college students who are away from their family during the school year.
Such is the case for many Madera athletes. However, for Campbell University wrestler James Cook (Madera) and Merced Junior College women’s basketball player Shellie Perkins (Madera), coming home is a chance to heal up for the next part of their season.
Cook injured his knee during a tournament, rehabilitated it and got it better to return to the mat Jan. 2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions where his parents were able to watch him wrestle.
