The City of Madera hosted 11 teams and drew nearly 500 participants and spectators to Madera’s Sunrise Rotary Sports Complex at its 2nd annual Ham Slam Softball Tournament.

Four men’s teams played Dec. 21, with BBK from Hollister/Los Banos claiming the championship and taking home the prize of holiday hams, said Adam Romero, the department’s youth/adult sports coordinator.

On Dec. 22, seven teams — from as nearby as Fresno to as far away as San Jose — played in the coed tournament. Players from L&T from Hollister, who went undefeated in the tournament, were crowned champions and received hams, Romero said.
