After back-to-back games with the Central Valley Titans, the California Heatwave American Basketball Association team returns home tonight against former division champion Bay Area Matrix.

The Heatwave defeated the Titans, 125-124, in the season opener on Nov. 30, but dropped the rematch Dec. 7, 116-111 as the Heatwave lost a seven point lead with two minutes to go.

With the 3-D rule, which includes a point to any bucket made after a turnover in the opponent’s backcourt, any lead isn’t safe.

The Heatwave turned the ball over on the inbounds and a 3-pointer resulted in four points. After a missed shot, the Titans hit another bucket to tie the game and, eventually, get the win...
