Hawks tennis heads to finals

For the third time in the program’s history, the Liberty boys tennis team is Valley Championship bound.

Just like in 2008 and 2010, the No. 2 seed Hawks will be playing for a Div. V Central Section championship today after knocking off No. 3 Granite Hills-Porterville 7-2 in Tuesday’s semifinals at Liberty.

“We’re a good team, so I expected them to play well and win,” Liberty head coach Nolon Doss said. “We definitely played our best and I believe we’re good enough to win a championship. We have our eyes on the prize.”

The North Sequoia League champion Hawks (16-1) will be seeking their first Valley title after finishing runner-up twice to Bakersfield Christian, which is in Div. III this season...
