Hawks take down Fowler in playoffs

In sports, sometimes the most dangerous teams in the playoffs can be the ones with something to prove.

That can be said for the No. 8 Liberty boys soccer team in this season’s Central Section Div. V playoffs, after head coach Darryl Ratzlaff felt his team got shortchanged in the seedings.

With that in mind, the Hawks came out ready Wednesday night and opened the first round of the Valley playoffs with a 2-0 statement win over No. 9 Fowler, the 2012 runner-up, at Liberty High.

After knocking off top-seeded Riverdale, 2-1, in last season’s playoffs, the Hawks (9-13-4) will look to repeat history tonight at No. 1 Orosi (17-2-4) while playing with some extra motivation...
