Hawks remain winless in league play

It was a tale of two halves for the Liberty Hawks girls basketball team at home as they lost to the Kerman Lions 40-23 to remain winless in the North Sequoia League.

The first half was defined by sloppy play and missed shots for the Hawks (7-11, 0-4 NSL) on Friday, allowing the Lions (8-14, 2-2 NSL) to score 12 unanswered points on their way to a 33-11 lead at halftime.

“We came out slow in the first half,” Liberty head coach Kimberly Stroemer said. “We kind of didn’t know what we were doing.”

Stroemer said, Liberty turned the ball over 25 times in the first half as opposed to a mere eight times in the entire second half...
