Hawks rebound with big win

The Liberty Hawks football team kept pace with the Washington Union-Easton Panthers for the top spot in the North Sequoia League with a 34-7 victory over the Kerman Lions.

The Hawks (8-1, 3-1 NSL) scored in every quarter and kept the Lions out of the end zone until midway through the fourth quarter.

“Kerman is a good football team,” Liberty head coach Mike Nolte said. “We had some big plays that helped us extend the score a little. We were the more physical team tonight. I knew that was going to make the difference.”

The Liberty defensive players were the difference makers Friday night. Although Kerman gained 282 yards on the ground, the Hawks limited the Lions to just nine yards passing with two interceptions. Liberty also recorded two quarterback sacks...
