The Liberty Hawks football team put the game into cruise control before halftime and rolled to an easy 40-7 victory over Yosemite-Oakhurst to open North Sequoia League play.
The Hawks led 27-0 at the half and closed out the first half with three straight touchdowns for the victory Friday night.
In the rout, head coach Mike Nolte was able to empty the bench and give most of his back-ups significant minutes in the second half. Those back-ups responded by carrying the Hawks to their highest offensive output of the season.
“I felt like we were in control of the game,” Nolte said. “It was a little close early on. That wasn’t anything we were doing wrong. We got into some penalties that stalled some drives.” ...
