VISALIA — The Central Valley Christian-Visalia Cavaliers didn’t care that the incoming Liberty Hawks won the Div. V Valley Championship last season.

The Div. IV school knocked the Hawks on their heels and it took a while for the reigning champs to fight back.

“I don’t know what to attribute it to, but it’s got to get fixed,” Liberty head coach Mike Nolte said. “We have to understand that football is a tough game. You’re going to get hit every once in a while and have to respond to that kind of stuff. You have to come out with a little bit different mentality to become successful.”

The Hawks didn’t come out with their usual aggression on their first possession of the scrimmage...
