Hawks look to stay unbeaten

On paper, it looks like the Liberty Hawks football team should have an easy time with an undermanned Yosemite Badgers team tonight in Oakhurst.

After what head coach Mike Nolte saw in his team against a lesser skilled Corcoran team, he isn’t taking any chances for the 7 p.m. kickoff.

“We need to realize that Yosemite has played some tough teams,” he said. “We know playing tough teams prepares you for the next step and that’s league. I expect them to play a tough football game.”

Yosemite heads into tonight’s game with an 0-5 record and has allowed more than 30 points in each loss. They are getting outscored 245-67 (49.0-13.4 points per game). The Badgers start a sophomore at quarterback (Joey Woolsey) and a freshman at tailback (Jayson Lee)...
