Hawks headed to Div. III championship

After eight years of coaching, Liberty Hawks girls soccer head coach Eli Liuba is finally going to his first Valley Championship game.

But for his daughter Julie, a senior halfback for the Hawks, it will be her third.

With a controlling 3-0 victory over No. 7 seed East-Bakersfield on Wednesday, the No. 2 seeded Hawks (24-3-2) will head to their third Valley Championship match in four years.

The Hawks won the Div. V Valley Championship three years ago, Julie’s freshman year, and the Div. IV title last season, Julie’s junior year. With the elder Liuba taking over this season, his team is on the verge of its third divisional title in four years...
