Haylee Hoelzel scored the eventual game-winning goal 10 minutes into the second half and the Liberty Hawks girls soccer team held on for a 3-2 non-league victory Friday over the Edison-Fresno Tigers at Liberty.
The Hawks scored the first two goals of the match early in the first half only to see Edison bounce back with two goals to tie the score before Hoelzel’s goal.
Although the Hawks took just 12 shots, they were able to score on three. It was the opposite story Wednesday when the Hawks took 25 shots and couldn’t score a goal in a 1-0 loss.
“We have been working on shots in practice the whole week,” head coach Eli Liuba said. “That was the difference. We feel really good going into league with a 10-3-2 record.” ...
