Hawks dominate Riverdale

Despite the graduation of six players with a combined 22 years of varsity experience, the Liberty Hawks softball team hasn’t seen any drop-off, especially after an 8-3 non-league victory over the Riverdale Cowgirls.

“Everybody kept saying the Hawks have lost a lot of players,” head coach Leslie Wood said. “These players have said we can play, too. The difference between last year and this year is they are all gamers. They show up and get to work. They are just steady as she goes and I like it.”

Wood’s Hawks pounded out 11 hits in a victory over the Cowgirls on Wednesday while dodging rain drops.

“We got a little damp, but not a downpour,” Wood said. “Not too bad.” ...
