In football circles, it is said “Offense wins games, but defense wins championships.” That same script is read at Liberty where the offense gets a lot of credit, but it’s because of the work of the defense.
In last week’s win over Lindsay, the Hawks held the Cardinals to more than 25 points below their season average in points and about 100 yards below their season average for yards gained.
Last year, pundits called the Liberty defense one of the best in the section. This season is no different. The Hawks have allowed just 140 points this year for an average of 11 points per game.
