Since suffering its first loss of the season, the Liberty Hawks football team have rebounded with back-to-back routs to close the season and earn the top seed in the Div. V football playoffs.

The Hawks responded well after the loss by defeating Kerman 34-7 two weeks ago and knocking off Chowchilla on Friday, 33-0 for the team’s first shutout of the season.

“It was a good way to finish the regular season for the seniors,” Nolte said. “They put in a lot of hard work. The team as a whole put in a lot of hard work. To be able to finish the regular season on a positive note and going into the playoffs with a win is great.”

The Hawks were dominant on both sides of the ball. The Liberty offense scored on six of eight drives. Meanwhile, the defense forced Chowchilla to six punts and five three-and-outs...
