With the Sierra-Tollhouse Chieftains keeping up with long ball after long ball, the Liberty Hawks boys basketball team used hustle plays to come up with an important North Sequoia League victory.

Key plays by Stetson Woods and Travis Jordan in the fourth quarter helped the Hawks outscore the Chieftains 18-8 for a 51-43 victory and complete a sweep over the Chieftains, the first time Liberty has swept an NSL opponent since joining the league five years ago.

“It feels good to close one out,” head coach Ken Vossler said. “It’s still been a problem in league. We were up late against Yosemite and Kerman and they walked away with a victory. It feels good to put a team away.“

The Hawks, 4-4, are enjoying their best NSL season and best basketball season since 2006-2007 when Liberty won 25 games...
