The Liberty Hawks softball team coasted through the first four innings of its non-league game against the Lemoore Tigers, soaring ahead 7-3 on four RBIs split between Randi Wallace and Bailey Graham.

Until the top of the fifth inning, the Div. IV Hawks (9-3) made it look easy against a higher-division opponent that came into the contest with an 8-1 record, but a lead-off walk and five hits would have the Tigers roaring back to within one run at 7-6.

Hawks freshman pitcher Cassidy Santa Cruz — who allowed only four hits in the first four innings — stared down Tigers starting sophomore pitcher Ines Ramirez at the plate with the bases loaded and two out.

Santa Cruz delivered a pitch that Ramirez drove on the ground to second base, but Renee Ortega was there to make the throw to first and end the inning...
