Hannah Shevenell struck out seven in a three-hitter, Shelby Johnson drove in two runs and the top-seeded Liberty Hawks softball team came away with a 3-0 victory Thursday over No. 8 seed Washington Union-Easton Panthers in the quarterfinals of the Div. IV playoffs at Liberty.
Shevenell tossed a three hitter and walked one while her defense played errorless behind her, even getting a double play.
“It was fantastic to move on and play to our potential today,” Shevenell said. “Our defense was solid, our hitting came around when we needed it and our speed was amazing.”
Coach Bob Barber, who calls pitches during the game, noted that Shevenell didn’t miss her spot all game and this was one of her best games of the season...
