Grand National quarter midget champs crowned

While it wasn’t quite the USAC/BCRA Midgets competing at the LoanMart Madera Speedway, spectators next door were treated to an array of up-and-coming drivers who strived to put on an equally impressive show.

The best young quarter midget racers from around the nation surfaced at the Madera fairgrounds to participate in the Western Grand National Championships presented by the Good Times Quarter Midgets Association — a local non profit organization that hosted the big five-day event.

In all, youth from ages 5-17 raced around the 1/20 of a mile track in the open wheel cars before 17 division winners were awarded the exclusive Honda-sponsored championship trophy to wrap up the weeklong show on Friday.
