Giants, Tigers set for Series

Before the preview gets started, let’s preface by noting it is being written by a Dodger fan trying to determine how the Giants can win the World Series.

Not to take in the fact that the Giants are the team that can’t lose when all the marbles are at stake — not the 6-0 record in elimination games this postseason alone. Also note that the Giants did all this with, probably, their best hitter getting suspended for the rest of the season.

Kudos to the Giants for surviving. Their reward is facing a well-rested Detroit Tigers team that swept the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.

Catcher: The Giants’ Buster Posey is a possible Most Valuable Player candidate playing the toughest position in baseball. He controls the game behind the plate, handles the pitching and is the heart of the Giants’ order. He also led the National League in batting with a .336 batting average. Detroit’s Alex Avila was an All-Star last season, but is really not in Posey’s league. Avila will also sit against Giants lefties Barry Zito and Madison Bumgarner. Edge: Giants...
