Two stars shined at both ends of the pool for the Madera High School boys water polo team this week, as the goalkeeping of Joe Garza and the shooting of George Martin led the Coyotes to an 11-5 victory over the Madera South Stallions.
Madera jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first half on four goals from Martin and the impenetrable barrier of Garza, who fended off at least 10 Stallion shots in that same time period.
“We had a really strong defense that was working well for us,” Coyotes head coach Rick Martines said. “Joe stepped up for us today and played really well. I’d say he’s been doing unbelievably well for us the last couple of games.”
