Gardner too much for improved Stallions

CERES — Although the Madera South Stallion football team faced somewhat of an unknown with a game against Central Valley-Ceres in the Sac-Joaquin Section, the Stallions did know of Ja’Quan Gardner.

Regarded as one of the best backs in the Sac-Joaquin Section, Gardner didn’t disappoint. He accounted for more than 87 percent of Central Valley’s offense and all five touchdowns in a 35-20 victory Friday night to send the Stallions home 0-3.

Gardner scored on touchdown runs of 4, 43, 65, 15 and 62 yards for a season-best 281 yards rushing. Gardner now has 782 yards in four games (195.5 per game) and 11 touchdowns for the Hawks.
