Baseball karma. That’s what the old-time baseball fans call it, baseball karma.

In the top of the ninth inning, Madera Coyote rightfielder Alec Gamboa made an ESPN-worthy diving catch in right-centerfield. Baseball karma says he would make a big play in the bottom of the inning, and karma was right.

In the bottom of the ninth, Gamboa went with an outside pitch and lined a ball inside the left field line to drive in Joseph Mendrin with the game-winning run Wednesday to send the No. 2 seeded Coyotes to the Div. II Central Section Championship game.

“That’s what they say about baseball karma,” head coach Andy Underwood said. “On ESPN, they always show the guy making the great play and then coming up with the big hit.” ...
