CLOVIS — Although the Madera Coyote softball team lost its first two games of the Buchanan Preseason Tournament, it didn’t stop Katelan Galleano from leading her team to a win in the third game of the day.
Galleano closed out Wednesday evening with a two-run home run to cap an 8-2 victory over the Clovis East Timberwolves. This came after she went 2-for-3 with two doubles against Clovis West and 2-for-2 with a double against Central-Fresno.
The Coyotes opened the day with a tough 3-2 loss to rival Central in a rematch of last year’s Div. I quarterfinals. After splitting a doubleheader last week with the Golden Eagles, the Coyotes had some success, but couldn’t get past Clovis West in a 4-2 loss. Madera closed the long day with an 8-2 victory over Clovis East.
“We keep finding ways to shoot ourselves in the foot,” head coach Judy Shaubach said. “We are in every game, but we just can’t find a way to get that extra result to get the win. We are so close to turning the corner with this team. Katelan did a great job adjusting throughout the day and really carried the team. What a great day at the plate she had.”...
