Former Madera pitcher named to Southern League All-Star team

Former Madera Coyote star Gary Moran was named this week to the 2012 Southern League All-Star team. The 6-foot-9 pitcher is playing for the Atlanta Braves' AA affiliate in Pearl, Miss.

In the past two seasons, Moran has moved quickly through the Braves' organization. He has principally been used as a reliever, but now has moved into a starters' role.

Moran's record of 1-5 doesn't reflect how well he has pitched as he has an ERA of 3.05. But the Braves are currently in last place and are the lowest scoring team in the Southern League.

Moran dropped a decision to the Montgomery Biscuits in which he tossed seven innings without allowing an earned run but took the loss on four unearned runs by the Biscuits...
