The California Community College Baseball Coaches Association announced its 2012 All-Academic Team last week. West Hills College Coalinga student-athletes Ian Horne and Nate Achelpohl (Liberty) were on the list along with 17 other student-athletes in the state of California.

Horne has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while Achelpohl has maintained a 3.50 GPA.

“We’re very excited about Nate and Ian’s accomplishments,” said Mike Curran, head coach of the baseball team at West Hills College Coalinga.

“It’s important for our players to take academics seriously, so we’ve implemented a mandatory academic progress and development program for all players with a focus on time management, organization, and note-taking skills. We hope this leads to more West Hills players being recognized in future years.
