FCC Rams earn top seed

The Fresno City Rams women’s volleyball team earned the top seed in the NorCal Volleyball Regionals, announced Sunday.

The Rams, led by Central Valley Conference Most Valuable Player Toni Murphy (Madera) and Olivia Guillen (Madera) easily got past Diablo Valley on Tuesday even with a tight first set.

Murphy, who was also named to the All-State NorCal team and was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All American first team, put down 13 kills and had 9 digs against Diablo Valley. The Rams (24-1) will host No. 9 seed Gavilan College today.

In the same NorCal bracket, No. 7 seed Cabrillo College advanced to the second round with a 3-1 victory over No. 10 seed Shasta College. Kelsee Montagna (Madera) put down 12 kills and recorded six blocks for the Seahawks...
