Coyotes girls expect top three run

By the time the Madera South Stallion boys cross country team congratulates fellow competitors in the Central Section Div. I cross country race today at Woodward Park, the Stallions hope to have the Valley Championship wrapped up.

The Stallions, who have been ranked No. 1 in the section the entire season and are third in the state, are the prohibitive favorites heading into today’s championship. Madera South won the County/Metro Athletic Conference championship, blowing away the other competitors by claiming the top six spots in the race for a perfect score.

“We’re going to stick with the plan we have,” Stallions coach Rich Parris said. “We are going to run the front three guys together and the next four together. We are going to try to be in control and just race.”

Madera South is going for its fifth straight Valley Championship. They won two straight in Div. III and two more in Div. II before moving up to Div. 1 this season...
