As with any successful athletic program, there are more to the details than just coaches coaching and players playing.

Other people need to be around to do their jobs so the coaches and players can worry about what is happening on the athletic field.

The Madera Coyote wrestling program is no different. As the back-to-back County/Metro Athletic Conference champions, the Coyotes went through the CMAC dual meets undefeated and enter Saturday’s CMAC tournament as the favorites for a three-peat, especially because the tournament is in Madera’s Joe Flores Gym.

One of the keys to head coach Joe Romine’s successful run through the Central Section and the CMAC has been a familiar face at the scorer’s table. Someone he has known for 18 years and who has kept score for four — his daughter Ashley...
